2018 will be one of the most pivotal elections in Arizona history. This November voters will go to the polls and make critical decisions about who will guide our state and local governments into the future. Between frantic headlines in the news and ever-changing political priorities, the apartment industry needs stable and focused leaders now more than ever.
The apartment industry provides housing for a more quarter of a million people in the state, it supports thousands of jobs, and contributes over $13 billion to the Arizona economy each year. With this type of community influence the industry also receives a lot of attention from regulators at every level of government. From taxation, to landlord- tenant law, to building codes the daily operations of apartments are constantly the subject of discussion at the state legislature, city halls, and in government agencies all across Arizona.
The Arizona Multihousing Association Political Action Committee (AMAPAC) gives the industry a strong voice while these discussions are taking place. AMAPAC supports legislators, mayors, and city council members who understand and are responsive to the needs of the apartment and rental housing community.
With over a thousand laws being considered at the state and city levels every year it is vital that elected representatives understand the issues the industry faces and are prepared to jump into action when the threat of excessive or burdensome regulation arises.
In order to find these leaders, AMAPAC evaluates candidates based on their proven track records of support for the rental housing industry and on long standing personal relationships they form with the AMA. AMAPAC supports proactive candidates who are dedicated to protecting the needs of the industry and who will be strong voices for Arizona’s future.
