Domestic Violence/Human Trafficking 2025

Come join us as we discuss warning signs for onsite staff, available resources and tips on how to handle an emergency if the need should arise. This course will provide a look into Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence and how they affect our industry.

How can apartment owners and operators prepare in response to this growing issue? We have special guests from the Scottsdale Police Department sharing a vital presentation with critical information regarding Human Trafficking. A member attorney will be available to discuss what managers and community staff are required to do in conjunction with the Landlord Tenant Act. Get all your questions answered in this seminar!

Detective Brooke Scritchfield

Scottsdale, AZ PD - Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (HEAT)

Detective Brooke Scritchfield has been a dedicated member of the Scottsdale Police Department since 1998. For the past 20 years, she has demonstrated her commitment to justice and protection by serving in various specialized units within the department. In 2004 Detective Scritchfield became a detective in the Domestic Violence Unit (DVU), followed by 16 years in the Special Victims Unit (SVU) and in 2021, she was assigned to Scottsdale PD’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (HEAT) investigating and conducting proactive investigations into luring of minors for sexual exploitation, child sex trafficking and adult sexual exploitation.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in investigating adult and child sexual assault and abuse cases, Detective Scritchfield has handled hundreds of sensitive and complex investigations. Her expertise in this field is unparalleled, making her an invaluable asset to the department.

Detective Scritchfield played a pivotal role in the establishment of the SPD's HEAT Unit, showcasing her leadership, investigative skills and innovative thinking. She routinely conducts undercover operations to target individuals who exploit adults and vulnerable children. Over the past few years, Detective Scritchfield’s participation in multi-agency operations has resulted in the identification, arrest and prosecution of numerous offenders attempting to sexually exploit children and adults.

For the past 17 years, Detective Scritchfield has been actively involved in providing comprehensive training on trafficking and sex crimes to both sworn officers, civilian police employees and the public. Her dedication to educating others in the field demonstrates her passion for preventing exploitation and protecting the community.

Denise Holliday has engaged in Landlord/Tenant practice since 1996. She is a Justice of the Peace Pro Tem and Superior Court Pro Tem.  She is a certified instructor for the Department of Real Estate, Arizona Association of Realtors, Property Management Institute and National Association of Real Property Managers.  She is president of ALTA since 2003 and a training instructor for ALTA since 2001. She has been a keynote speaker at several legal seminars regarding Landlord/Tenant issues presented to the Association of Landlord/Tenant Attorneys, Maricopa County Justices of the Peace, Maricopa County Judge Pro Tempores,  Continuing Education for Attorneys, and Co-Jet training for Judges, NARPM, AHMA, and numerous other professional associations.  She also assists Law Enforcement and Property Managers with Crime Free Programs for apartment complexes.
