How to Communicate with Different Personality Types

Effective Communication and MBTI
March 4 | 10am-11am | ZOOM

Most people have heard of the MBTI, even if they don't remember their exact type. But knowing a label isn't the same as knowing what to do with it.

This session moves past the personality test and into the practical part: how to actually communicate with people who process information, make decisions and think differently than you do. Neurodiversity isn't a problem to manage. Understood well, it's one of an organization's biggest strengths.

Jeremy breaks down what neuroscience tells us about these differences and translates it into something you can use immediately, whether you're giving feedback, making a request, or trying to get on the same page with someone who thinks nothing like you do.

3 Key Takeaways

  1. Spot the mismatch. Learn to tell when friction comes from a real disagreement versus a difference in how two people think and communicate.
  2. Adjust on the spot. Walk away with a simple way to shift your approach based on who you're talking to.
  3. Turn differences into an advantage. Learn how a team's mix of thinking styles can strengthen decisions instead of slowing them down.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to complete the Myers Briggs Type Indicator personality assessment prior to the session to better understand their own communication preferences.

This class qualifies for NAA continuing education credits needed for credential renewals.
