Session Description
This session will explore common scams affecting the residents of Pima County, and all across the nation. Speaker Bio
After graduating from the academy in 2019, I began my career as a Patrol Deputy in the Rincon District, gaining valuable experience in patrol operations, investigations, and the criminal justice system. In October 2020, I transitioned to the Fraud Unit, where I have conducted and assisted with numerous fraud investigations while working closely with local and federal partners, including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and U.S. Secret Service. I have continued to expand my expertise through specialized training, certifications, membership in the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators, and earning my Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification in 2023. Over the past six years, I have recognized the importance of education and community awareness as a first line of defense against fraud. Since 2023, the Fraud Unit has conducted more than 60 fraud prevention presentations and developed partnerships with businesses, financial institutions, and communities to create a network that allows for rapid law enforcement intervention. These efforts have helped prevent and recover more than $1.5 million in funds lost or at risk of being lost to scammers, demonstrating the impact that education, collaboration, and community involvement can have in protecting our residents and making Pima County a safer place.
